Your guide to AI Agent Skills — discover, install, and create.
Agent Skills are modular capabilities that extend AI coding assistants. Each skill consists of a SKILL.md file with instructions, plus optional scripts and templates. They follow an open standard adopted by Claude Code, Codex CLI, and ChatGPT. The AI automatically decides when to use them based on context.
For Claude Code: add to ~/.claude/skills/ (personal) or .claude/skills/ (project). For OpenAI Codex CLI: add to ~/.codex/skills/. Both use the same SKILL.md format. Clone the GitHub repository and copy the skill folder to your chosen directory. The AI automatically discovers and loads skills from these locations.
Skills are sourced from public GitHub repositories. We filter out low-quality repos (e.g. minimum stars) and scan for basic quality indicators, but you should always review the code before installing. Treat community skills like any open-source code — inspect before use.
Yes. Claude Code and other tools support multiple skills simultaneously. Skills are modular and designed to work together. For example, you can combine a code-reviewer skill with a git-automation skill. The AI selects the appropriate skills based on your request context.
Yes. You can create custom skills and share them on GitHub. The basic structure requires a SKILL.md file with instructions. You can also add optional scripts and templates. Check documentation for the skill-creator skill for detailed guidance.
Skills are model-invoked — the AI automatically decides when to use them based on context. Slash commands are user-invoked — you explicitly type the command. Skills enable more intelligent, context-aware automation.
We regularly sync with GitHub to fetch the latest skills and updates. When a skill repository is updated on GitHub, changes appear here after our next sync. You can see the last update timestamp on each skill. We recommend checking back for new skills and improvements.
Agent Skills live in public GitHub repositories. We aggregate them here so you can search by category and popularity. You can also search GitHub directly for "SKILL.md" or "agent skills" — we make discovery easier with filters and quality signals.
No. Skill Marketplace is an independent community project. We aggregate and showcase agent skills from GitHub. For official skills and documentation, refer to Anthropic's and OpenAI's respective documentation.
